          Alvin "Al" R. DeGrave, 87, Bark River, passed away on Thursday March 7, 2019 at UP Heath Systems in Marquette with his loving wife and two sons by his side. He was born on February 7, 1932 in Jam Dam, MI, son of the late George and Rose (Pirlot) DeGrave. On October 14, 1989, he married the former Penny Moore in Rapid River, MI.
          Al proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt, and also loved to fly fish in his past. Al was strong in his faith. He enjoyed reading his bible everyday and loved going to church and being with the entire church family.
          He is survived by his loving wife, two sons: Randy (Diane) DeGrave and Danny (Lynn) DeGrave, two daughters: Sharral (Tom) Jensen and Patti (Steve) LaMarch, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
          Al was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Barbara DeGrave, a brother: Gerald DeGrave and an infant sister: Shirley DeGrave.
          Friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 12, 2019 at the Ford River Community Chapel with Delta County Veterans Council rites at 2:45. A funeral to celebrate Al's life will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at church with Pastor Jay Gilchrist officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Bark River Cemetery in the spring.
          In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name and a memorial will be decided by his family later.
          The Allo Coolman Funeral Homes are assisting the DeGrave family.
