          Arlene Ann Szapa, 84, Carney, entered into eternal rest on Saturday August 5, 2023 at her home with her most loving caregivers (daughters: Tammy and Melissa) at her side. Arlene was born on June 1, 1939 in Hermansville, MI, daughter of the late Victor and Verna (Sicore) Ayotte. On June 13, 1959 she married the late Joseph Szapa in Hermansville and together then made their home in Carney.
 
          The joy of Arlene's life was her grandchildren! She never missed an opportunity to spend time with all thirteen of them, sharing her love of gardening, birds, sports, baking, laughter and any adventure they desired!
 
          Arlene is survived by her children: Terry (Ruth) Szapa, Tammy Szapa, Nikki (Thomas) St. John, Melissa (Joseph) LaPointe and Jeremy (Christine) Szapa, her grandchildren: Jacob Szapa, Katy Szapa, Aaron Szapa, Jared Robertson, Kasey Zink, Joshua Robertson, Andrea Mott, Jordan St. John, Trevor St. John, Mariah Erickson, Harli Grinsteiner, Brayden LaPointe and Kennedy LaPointe. Arlene also leaves a legacy of 27 great-grandchildren whom she enjoyed with a passion! She is further survived by her sisters: Lisa (Robert) Gatien and Donna (Richard) Schiesser, her sister-in-law: Lucille Ayotte, brother-in-law: Paul (Joanne) Nagy, many nieces and nephews and her special friends and neighbors: Priscilla and Darlene.
 
          She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son: Robbie James Szapa, brother: Clarence Ayotte and her in-laws: Paul and Julia Nagy.
 
          Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (CST) on Friday August 11, 2023 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. (CST) on Friday at St. Bruno's Church in Nadeau with Fr. Benny Mathew officiating. Burial will follow Mass in the Nadeau Township Cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the church parish hall.
