Beverly "Bev" C. Jensen, 89, Powers, passed away on Saturday December 15, 2012 at Pine Haven Rest Home in Gladstone, MI. She was born on September 16, 1923 in Gladstone, MI, the daughter of the late William and Della (LeMaire) LaLande. On February 19, 1949 she married Irving Hafeman at St. Francis Xavier Church in Spalding. Together they lived in the Powers area until his death on September 29, 1970. Beverly later married Robert Jensen on October 2, 1971and he preceded her in death on July 5, 2002.
Bev was raised in the Rapid River area, where she also graduated from high school, and later went to beauty school. She was a very accomplished seamstress, who enjoyed creating many of her own clothes as well as her daughters. Bev also enjoyed crocheting and embroidery and made many items for her family. She was the owner and operator of Beverly's Beauty Shop in Powers, where she lived and worked most of her life. Until her health no longer permitted, she attended the Carney Evangelical Free Church.
She is survived by two daughters: Juanita Bednarek and Sheila (Rodger) Schmidt both of Fond Du Lac, WI, seven step-children: Robert (Jamie) Jensen of Rapid River, MI, Julie Nelson, Ray Jensen, Laura (Paul) LaPine, David (Sarah) Jensen all of Gladstone, MI, Jane (Ron) Brow of Marquette, MI and Dan Jensen of Gladstone, MI, three sisters: Caryle (Virgil) Steward, Eunice (Patrick) Hafeman and Wilma Fekete, two brothers: Dean (Denise) LaLande and Morris (Janie) LaLande, five grandchildren: Michelle Te (Jeff) Stroete, Lori (Jason) Enders, Jodi (Shawn) Daniels, Brian Bednarek and Lisa Bednarek, twelve step-grandchildren: Megan (Donny) Wallensang, Natalie Nelson, Audrey Jensen, Sam Jensen, Ben Brow, Brad Brow, John LaPine, Emily LaPine, Travis Jensen, Tyler Jensen, Paige Jensen and Allison Jensen, six great-grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren, as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents, both her husbands, three sisters: Elaine Stoor, Juanita LaLande and Melba LaLande and one brother: Valner LaLande.
Friends may call from 12:00 (noon) to 1:00 p.m. (CST) on Thursday December 27, 2012 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding. A memorial service will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. (CST) on Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Page officiating.
