Clifford Joseph LeBombard
, 91, Hermansville, passed away early Monday morning at the V.A. Hospital in Iron Mountain, MI, after residing at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers for the past 2 1/2 years. He was born on December 7, 1921 to the late Arthur and Rose (Malette) LeBombard in Escanaba. On April 17, 1950, he married the late Margaret J. Urek in Chicago, IL.

After grade school, Cliff started working to help support his family and later joined the Michigan National Guard, which lead him to join the 107th Combat Engineering Battalion at the age of 20. He served mostly in Europe and was part of the D-Day invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. Later Cliff moved to Chicago where he met and married his wife. They eventually moved to a small farm in Hermansville. Cliff worked at Harnischfeger for over 14 years, with his wife owned and operated the Powers Spalding Locker Plant for 17 years and then an adult foster care home for several years. After retirement, he drove bus for the North Central School District for 8 years and also worked for Meyer Township. Cliff was a member of St. John Neumann Church and the American Legion Post #340.

Cliff enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and working on his small farm. He also enjoyed country and western movies and music, doing jigsaw puzzles in his later years, but mostly spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cliff was a hard working, but easy going man with a smile and good humor for everyone he met. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by eight children: Harriet (Bernard) Poquette, Robert (Dana Sandberg) Smith, Martin (Patty) Smith, Donald (Sheri) LeBombard, Jean (Jim) Mosenfelder, Brian (Bonnie) LeBombard, Steven (Patti) LeBombard and Joyce (Benny) LeBombard Souder, fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son: Arthur, an infant son: Jeffrey, a grandson: Jeffrey Poquette, a granddaughter: Natalie Smith and nine siblings.

Friends may call from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday March 5, 2013 at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday at church with Fr. Michael Vichich officiating. A luncheon will follow Mass at the Wildwood Restaurant in Hermansville. Burial will take place in the Meyer Township Cemetery in the spring.
