Curtis Joel Grondin
Date of Death: December, 23 2013

Curtis Joel Grondin, 35, Wilson, passed away Monday evening December 23, 2013 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.       He was born on November 23, 1978 in Petoskey, MI, the son of Patrick "Pat" and Kathleen (Nichols) Grondin. On June 24, 2006 he married the former Heide Larson at the Carney Free Church.

"Curti" or "Curti Joe" as some of his friends and family called him was very passionate toward hunting and fishing, but mostly for watching and experiencing the joy others had when he would bring them hunting. He also completed a World Slam in turkey hunting with his father. Hunting is also how he made the majority of his friends, who also shared the same passion. Curtis was also an exceptional athlete, who always gave it his all and then some. He loved the Detroit Tigers and Lions, but not as much as he loved his wife: Heide. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Curtis is survived by his wife, his parents, three brothers: Ryan (Susan) Grondin, Darren (Jessica Coolbaugh) Grondin and Derrick Grondin, one sister: Megan (Ryan) Blixt, his dog and best friend: Jaxon, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

Friends may call from 12:00 (noon) to 2:45 p.m. (CST) on Sunday December 29, 2013 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding. A luncheon will be served at 3:00 p.m. at Labelle's Inn. Visitation will then continue from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service to celebrate Curtis Grondin's life will follow visitation at 6:00 p.m. (CST) at the funeral home with Fr. Michael Vichich officiating.

A memorial fund has been set up at the Menominee County Federal Credit Union where donations in Curtis or Heide Grondin's name may be sent to: W3803 US HWY 2 & 41, P.O. Box 604, Powers, MI 49874.

  • "A TRIBUTE TO CURTIS: THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES Thanks for the memories: Of hunts we can't forget, and all your friends we met, Our wond'rous times in forests and all the turkeys we’d get. How lucky we were. And thanks for the memories: Of breakfasts at the diner, nothing could be finer, We’d hunt all day for miles, And you’d crack that crazy smile How fun it all was. Now since your passing, we wake up, Remembering on these days after. We long for the sound of your laughter, And want more hunts ever after. Curt, thanks for the memories: Of every hunt a thrill, You put us through the mill. We’ve lived a lot and learned a lot, you never teased us-NOT! and still; We’ll miss you so much. And thank you so much. "

A mothers pride was obvious and heart warming. We've talked about that conversation many times. I can't imagine your pain. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. You and your family will be in my prayers. "
