         Danny C. Ritter, 87, Ford River, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Logansport, IN, son of the late Marie Banfield. Danny was raised in Cincinnati, OH. On October 11, 1980, Danny married the former Barbara Johnson in Boyne Falls, MI.
 
          Danny served in the United States Navy from July 14, 1948 until he was honorably discharged on July 10, 1952. He served during the Korean War and received the Good Conduct Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal.
 
          Danny retired as a lieutenant from the Michigan State Police in 1988. After retirement he went to work for Vehicle Science Corporation, an engineering firm from downstate, test-driving prototype vehicles.
         
          Danny was an avid Detroit Lions fan and also enjoyed his time working in the garage and yard, telling stories and spending the winters in Oklahoma with his wife. He especially loved spending time with his family and attending grandchildren's sporting events. No matter what life sent his way, when asked how he was doing, his response was always “I’m doing great”. Danny was a member of the Soo Hill Church of Christ.
 
          Danny is survived by loving wife: Barbara of  Ford River, children: Tom (Karen) Ritter of Bark River, Florence (Zane) Condie of Boise, ID, and Marie Michelle Haeck of Eaton Rapids, MI, eight grandchildren: Nichole (Rich) Stannard, Robert Ritter, Brad Ritter, Danny Ritter, Lisa LeMire, Matthew LeMire, Scott Haeck, and Emily Haeck, seven great grandchildren, sister in law: Pauline Ritter of Manistique, and many nieces and nephews.
 
          He was preceded in death by his mother, step father: Jay Bruce, brother: Robert Ritter, and sister: Betty Dunn.
 
          A celebration of Danny's life will be held in the summer of 2017.
                  
          The Allo Coolman Funeral Homes are assisting the Ritter family.
