Elizabeth "Betty" May Whitens

            Elizabeth "Betty" May Whitens, 83, Hermansville, passed away on Saturday November 2, 2013 at Marquette General Hospital. She was born June 15, 1930 in Hermansville, the daughter of the late William and Rose (Fabry) Savord.
 
            Betty graduated from Hermansville High School in 1948. On June 21, 1954 she married Roger Whitens at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hermansville. Betty was a mother and homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, dancing and listening to her husband, children and grandchildren play music. She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Hermansville, Floriano Stecker Auxiliary Unit #340 for 45 years and the Corporals of Mercy. She also taught CCD in her earlier years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
 
            She is survived by her husband, three sons: Alan (Nancy) Whitens and their children: Joseph, Amanda and Anthony Whitens, Russell (Cindy) Whitens and their children: David and James (Carrie) Whitens and Bruce (special friend: Peggy) Whitens, two daughters: Marilyn (mike) Popp and son: Rick Popp and Jalaine (Larry) Bellmore and their children: Dean and Alex Bellmore, one sister: Rose Cowels and one brother: Laurence (Martha) Savord.
 
            Betty was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Howard, Wesley and Gary Savord.
 
            Friends may call from 9:00 to 12:00 p.m. (noon) (CST) on Wednesday November 6, 2013 at St. John Neumann Church in Hermansville with the Floriano Stecker Auxiliary Unit #340 rites at 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. (noon) (CST) on Wednesday at church with Fr. Michael Vichich officiating. Burial will follow Mass in the Meyer Township Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Floriano Stecker American Legion Post #340 in Hermansville.
 
            The Allo Coolman Funeral Homes are assisting the Whitens family.
