Ernest "Ernie" P. Dani
Ernest P. Dani 89, Hermansville, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday April 11, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born on May 24, 1927 to the late Victor and Florence (Grenier) Dani. On September 8, 1962 he married the former Carol Mae Gagne at St. Francis Catholic Church in Spalding.
Ernie served his country in the United States Air Corp during WWII. Ernest was employed with Menominee County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy for 16 years, 25 years on the Meyer Township Fire Department, including 10 years as Fire Officer and Tower man as well as a painter with the Harnischfeger corporation until their closing in 1987. He retired from Brothers Manufacturing in 1992. Ernie was a member and president of the Bella Venezia Italian Society until its dissolve in 1995. Ernie was a founding member of Camp 31-D and also a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Hermansville as well as a member of the Floriano Stecker Kelly American Legion Post#340 in Hermansville. He served as trustee for Meyer Township for 16 years. In April 2012, he was honored with the opportunity to take a trip with The Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
In his spare time he enjoyed trips to his hunting camp, casino, bowling, playing cards, dancing, hunting, watching the Lions, Yankees, making sopressa and gardening. He loved spending time with his family. His pride and joy were his 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Carol, and their six children: Patricia Dani, Peter (Karen) Dani, Patrick (Trisha) Dani, Paula (Joe) Ayotte, Pamela Dani, and Paul (Stacey) Dani, 17 grandchildren: Amber (Tim) Vallier, Krystle Cretens, Brandon Cretens, Jamie Schiesser, Lance Ayotte, Brenton Ayotte, Cassandra Dani, Daniel Dani, Tessa (Adam) Cocco, Andrea Dani, Janel Dani, Victoria Dani, Jessica Dani, Nicholas Dani, Madilyn Dani, Carson Dani, and Belle Dani; 6 great-grandchildren: Abby, Aaron, Holly, Phoebe, Liam and Grayson, one sister: Geraldine Mach of Milwaukee, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ernest was preceded in death by one sister: Betty Ann (Dani) Pinter, one brother: Victor Dani Jr. and three granddaughters: April Florence, Julie Ann & Kaitlyn Jo.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon) (CST) on Saturday April 15, 2017at St. John Neumann Church in Hermansville with Floriano Stecker Kelly American Legion Post #340 military rites at 11:30. A funeral outside of Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. (noon) (CST) on Saturday at the church with Fr. Jacek Wtyklo officiating. Burial will be in the Meyer Township Cemetery at a later date. A luncheon will follow services at the American Legion Hall in Hermansville.
