Gary L. Jenshak
Date of Death: September, 03 2017

Gary L. Jenshak, 84, Escanaba, passed away on Sunday morning September 3, 2017 after a brief illness.  His loving family was with him during his final days.  He was born in Green Bay, WI on December 31, 1932, son of late Howard and Jennie (Hansen) Jenshak.  On August 16, 1958, Gary married the former Therese Boudreau at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, in Escanaba, Michigan.

Gary was very patriotic and proudly served in United States Army in the Fifth Armored Division during the Korean War.  He especially enjoyed the UP Honor Flight to Washington D.C., with his son, Bruce.  His working career began at a young age in the late 40’s washing trucks at Clairmont Transfer Company where he retired after 40 years as a master mechanic and shop foreman.

Gary was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and a member of the Amvets.   He was a very creative and innovative mechanic who spent countless hours tinkering in his garage on everything possible.  Gary enjoyed traveling with his wife Therese, especially enjoying winters in Gulf Shores, AL, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He was also very proud that he had donated over 17 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross.

Gary is survived by his loving wife: Therese, children: Bruce Jenshak, Escanaba, MI, Janet Coplan, Key Largo, FL, Bradley (Phyllis) Jenshak, Bloomington, IN, and Kris (John) Eger, Great Mills, MD, grandchildren: John Eger, Brett, Codi, Nicholas, Bryan and Rebecca Jenshak, siblings: Edward (Barbara) Jenshak and Robert (Merna) Jenshak, sisters-in-law: Mildred Jenshak-Lokken, Barbara Jenshak, June (Philip) Racine, Joanne Flynn, Janel Boudreau, and Evonne Boudreau, and brother-in-law: Kenneth (Nancy) Boudreau.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Donald, Roger, and David Jenshak, and brothers-in-law: William Flynn, and Wilfred and Leonard Boudreau, and son-in-law: Joel Coplan.

Friends may call on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Delta County Veteran’s Council will have military rites at 5 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visiitation on Thursday September 7, at 6 p.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church with Fr. Francis DeGroot officiating.  A meal will follow Mass in the parish hall.  Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
