Genevieve Edna Floriano, 99, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Wednesday January 23, 2019 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. She was born on January 23, 1920, in Hermansville, MI to the late Irwin and Irene (Gereau) Sutherland. She graduated from Hermansville High School in 1937 and on June 7, l941, she married Leroy Floriano at the Hermansville Methodist Church. They were married for 72 years prior to Lee’s death in 2013. Jen and Lee lived in Hermansville and Coleman before moving to Green Bay in 1955 where they raised their three sons. During that time Jen was employed at Moore Business Forms and the Copps Corporation. Upon retirement Jen and Lee moved to rural Wausau, WI and later to Marinette, WI before making their final move to assisted living and the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.
During her free time Jen enjoyed doing puzzles of any kind and working on craft projects for others. She made almost 700 chooks and gave them away to schools, the Salvation Army and anyone who could use a hat. She made quilts, macramé chairs and tablecloths for all her family members. Her greatest joy was to spend time with family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jen is survived by her three sons: Bob (Cheryl) of Pottsboro, TX; Jim (Kathy) of Land O’ Lakes, WI; and John (Terri) of Gaastra, MI; eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers: Irwin Jr., Robert, and Bill Sutherland, and four sisters: Iva Love, Grace Hayes, Myrtle Freese, and Elaine Gardipee.
Friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. (CST) on Monday January 28, 2019 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding. A funeral service to celebrate Jen’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. (CST) on Monday the United Methodist Church in Hermansville with Pastor Chris Bergquist officiating. A luncheon will follow in the Floriano Stecker Kelly American Legion Post #340 hall in Hermansville. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Escanaba.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Floriano Stecker Kelly American Legion Post #340 Auxiliary or the Hermansville Methodist Church.
