George J. Pepin Jr.

George J. Pepin Jr., 88, Escanaba, passed away Monday February 14, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on April 8, 1922 to the late George and Anna (Muther) Pepin Sr. in Ford River, MI. On May 17, 1947 he married the former Mary E. Denoo, who passed away on September 10, 1989. He later married Norma Furton on June 8, 1991 at St. Anne's Parish in Escanaba and she survives him.
George served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. After returning home from the service, George worked numerous different jobs including owning the Peps Standard Service Station and later retiring from Harnischfeger Corporation after more the 25 years there.
He is survived by his wife, six children: Bruce (Mollie) Pepin, Cindy (Ron) Sundstrom, Wendy Pepin, Fran (Walter Jourdain) Majestic, George (Terri) Pepin III and Sherry (Dennis) Dyszel, one brother: John (Mary) Pepin, one daughter-in-law: Pat Pepin, ten grandchildren as well as great and great-great grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one son: Rick Pepin, one infant daughter: Terry Pepin, and he is further preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday February 18, 2011 at Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba with the Delta County Veterans Council rites at 4:45 p.m. A funeral service will be celebrated following visitation at 5:00 p.m. on Friday at Allo Coolman Funeral Home with Deacon Lew Vailliencourt officiating. A luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall at St. Anne's Parish following services. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring.
