James "Jim" C. Cook
Date of Death: July, 12 2017

James "Jim" C. Cook, 69, Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday July 12, 2017 due to complications following a back surgery with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 3, 1948 in Escanaba, the son of the late Vern and Betty (Guimond) Sturdivant. On March 21, 1970 he married the former Liz Lueneburg at St. Thomas Church.

Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 during Vietnam War which he served one tour of duty. He was also very proud of the wood crafts he made to benefit the U.P. Honor Flight. Jim enjoyed fishing, mostly on the opening day of walleye season with his son, and also traveling, but most important to him was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Liz, three children: Mike (Bekki) Cook, Laurie (Dan) Martinson and Amy (Nick) Oleszak, his "fur baby": Zoey, six grandchildren: Kyle, Meghan, Chelsea, Seth, Allison and Katelyn "Katie Kadoodie",  three sisters, one brother, as well as nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

In keeping with Jim's wishes, there will be no public service. His family will celebrate his life with private family services with the Delta County Veterans Council performing military rites and Fr. Eric Olson officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

The Allo Coolman Funeral Homes are assisting the Cook Family.
