John William Gudwer, 80, Spalding, passed away on Wednesday July 5, 2017 at Dickinson Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain. He was born on February 19, 1937 in Escanaba, the son of the late William and Emma (Labre) Gudwer. He married the former Rita Johnson on January 26, 1974 in Iron Mountain.
John worked at Goodwill in Carney for many years and loved woodworking. He resided at Pinecrest for the past seven years and enjoyed playing bingo, assisting other residents, and keeping the nurses on their toes.
John is survived by his son: Bill Gudwer of Menasha, WI, sister: Mary (Jim) Martin, brother in law: Pat (Shirley) Johnson, sister in law: Judy (Melvin) Klee, nieces and nephews: Tuesday Schetter, Jennifer Eppers, Ken Johnson, Marshal Johnson, and Colton Klee, and great niece and nephews: Maizee Grace Eppers, Justin Deno, and Chase Kollmann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife: Rita, and infant son: John Billy Gudwer.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 12, 2017 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding from 12:00 (noon) to 2:00 p.m. (CST). A funeral service to celebrate the life of John Gudwer will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Fr. Jacek Wtyklo officiating. Burial will follow services in the Spalding Township Cemetery.
