Linnea "Lynn" J. Hawes, 102, Escanaba, daughter of Carl and Jennie (Forslund) Johnson was born September 15, 1917 in Nestoria, MI, passed to be with her Lord and Savior on December 13, 2019. She graduated from Michigammee High School in 1935 and then attended Ferris State College Secretarial School. She worked as a secretary for the Dept. of Agriculture, and later Dept. of Commerce in Washington, D.C .
Lynn married Ensign Robert Hawes on November 14, 1942 in Chicago, IL, and moved to Escanaba in 1949 where Robert owned and operated Hawes Paint and Floor Covering. Linnea was a devout Christian and a member of Ford River Community Chapel. She enjoyed homemaking, gardening and being with beloved family and friends.
She is survived by one son: Douglas (Sharon) Hawes, three daughters: Susan (Bill) Waller, Katherine Rydquist, and Sandra (Rich) Miketinac, and her sister, Carol Bardenwerper. Also surviving are grandchildren: Paula Hawes, Kris (Dan) Aiken, Robert Hawes, Jarod Bolek, David (Sarah) Waller, Cari (Ken) Mosher, James (Theresa) Rydquist, Andrew Gauthier, Nick Gauthier, Joanne (Mike) Preston, Karen Lynn Miketinac and thirteen great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and a beloved family pet dog: Goliath.
Lynn is predeceased by her parents, husband: Robert, son-in-law Jack Rydquist, four sisters: Elsie Townsend, Lillian Johnson, Viola Persons and Norma Ball, in addition two sisters-in law, Maryjean Cunningham and Margory Hall and a great-grandson: Cameron Hawes.
In keeping with Linnea Hawes, there will be no public services. Her family will celebrate her life at a later date. She will be laid to rest in the West Ford River Cemetery in the Spring.
Her family would like to thank nurses: Trish and Rachel, aides: Keisha, Steve, Alyssa and Dani, and her special longtime friends: Eunice and Ethel for their care and support.
