Lloyd Herbert Sundberg
, 87, Gladstone, passed away on Tuesday March 12, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. He was born on September 15, 1925 in Ensign Township to the late Ferdinand and Marie (Hagblad) Sundberg. On September 6, 1947 he married the former Betty Jane LaCroix. She preceded him in death on January 28, 1987. On May 7, 1988, he married the former Rose Marie Wellcome at St. Charles Catholic Church in Rapid River.

Lloyd served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He then worked as a rural letter carrier for over 35 years. Lloyd was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, and currently at St. Anthony of Padua in Wells. He enjoyed spending time working in the woods and helping his sons in their trucking garage during his retirement years. He also enjoyed volunteering for different organizations around the area. Lloyd will be remembered by his family and friends as a good hearted and hard working man that will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his wife, three children: Suzan (Michael) Piller, Kerry (Vicky) Sundberg and Bruce (Dawn) Sundberg, step-children: Angie (Brent), Brian, Daniel, Carol, Teresa and Marlene, two sisters: Myrtle McLain and Evelyn Scribner and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, two grandchildren: Meghan Piller and Paul Sundberg, step-daughter: Cheryl Tran and two brothers: Floyd and John Sundberg.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday March 15, 2013 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba with Rapid River American Legion Post #301 rites at 6:00 p.m. followed by scripture readings with Pastor Kelsey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday March 16, 2013 at St. Anthony of Padua in Wells with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will follow Mass in the church parish hall. Burial will take place in the Rapid River Cemetery in the spring.
