Lurline M. (Lancour) Pepin, 103, Escanaba, passed away peacefully on Monday May 1, 2023 at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba where she lived since July 2011. She was born on March 26, 1920 in Osier, the daughter of the late William and Eva (LaLonde) Lancour. On September 28, 1940 she married Wilfred Pepin at St. Anne's Parish in Escanaba.
Lurline attended both Osier Elementary and Rapid River schools. Helping family and friends was extremely important to Lurline and she could often be found babysitting her nieces and nephews when family members were in the hospital. Many years when Lurline and her husband went on vacation they invited nieces to travel with them. One of her favorite past times was camping with her family around the Upper Peninsula and spending the winter months in Texas.
For 71 years of her life, Lurline lived on North 19th St in Escanaba. She was a founding member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, having attended the first Mass held at the church's current location. Lurline was an active member in the parish for the majority of her life, serving at bazaars and funeral luncheons.
Lurline is survived by a sister: Rita Aho and a brother: Irving "Thomas" (Betsy) Lancour.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Wilfred, on April 16, 1997, a son: John on August 13, 1971, seven brothers: William, Ronald, Norman, Dale, Keith, Floyd and Wayne, and seven sisters: Theresa Deiter, Wanda Orava, Phyllis Derouin, Leola Wiltzius, Yvonne Montgomery, Judy Eagle and Lela Dubord.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday May 5, 2023 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday at the church with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. Coffee and deserts will follow Mass in the church parish hall. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and son in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
