Mary Rose (Elie) Ramsey, 68, of 121 South Waverly Rd. #209, Holland MI, passed away Friday morning June 17, 2011 at Hospice House of Holland after battling cancer surrounded by her loving family. Her courage and strength throughout this journey will guide and shape our family for years to come.
Mary Rose was born February 21, 1943 in Escanaba, the daughter of Lawrence and Evelyn (Bellefeuille-LaFleur) Elie. She attended Holy Name High School in Escanaba and participated in the winter Ice Follies show which was an annual event at the Ruth Butler building at the fairgrounds. She was a member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Holland and worked for United Automotive Technologies, formerly known as Northern Fiber for 23 years.
Mary Rose was the loving mother of four surviving children: Rick Granskog of Holland, Katherine Granskog of Holland, Renee George of Allegan and John (Julie) Mokma of Holland. She is further survived by her mother: Evelyn Elie of Escanaba, eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one brother: Lawrence (Victoria) Elie II of Escanaba as well as five nephews and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father, an infant daughter: Carrie Lynn Granskog in 1961, one brother: John Wayne Elie on December 15, 2010, great-grandson: Tyler David George and an infant brother.
Honoring Mary Rose Ramsey's wishes, she was cremated and her cremains were buried near her daughter in Pilgrim Cemetery on the North side of 370 East 16th St., Holland, MI on Tuesday June 21, 2011.
