Richard G. "Dick" Anderson

         Richard G. "Dick" Anderson, 90, Escanaba (Danforth area), passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Escanaba on February 28, 1928, son of the late William and Hildur (Carlson) Anderson. On August 27, 1949, Dick married the former Mary Ellen Christensen at St. Patrick's Church in Escanaba.
 
          At 16 years old Dick sailed the Great Lakes on various ore boats, and at 17 years old Dick joined the United States Navy for four years during WWII. He graduated from Cloverland College with a degree in accounting and later obtained his electrician's diploma from Industrial Training Institute in Chicago. He retired from Harnischfeger as a machinist in 1985 after 34 dedicated years of employment.
 
          Dick was a devoted husband, father, and to his Lutheran faith. He was an avid sports enthusiast cheering on the Detroit Tigers, Green Bay Packers, and Detroit Red Wings.  In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, photography, animals, and eating chocolate.
 
          Dick is survived by his loving wife: Mary Ellen, sons: Larry (Karen) of Gladstone and Jim (Nikki) Anderson of Escanaba, daughters: Constance (Wayne) Jacques of Marquette and Judith Marie Anderson of Escanaba, grandchildren: Jason Anderson, Alicia Ann (Michael) Tripp, Stefanie Brook (Keith) Boucher, Kristi Jacques, Mallorie (Dave) Anderson, and Samuel Jacques, great grandchildren:  Isabella Tripp, Addyson Tripp, Ava Boucher, Maeve Mondloch and Ethan Mondloch, brother in law: James F. Christensen, special niece: Cathy (Tom) "Anderson" Gannon, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
 
          He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Clifford, Jack, and Jim, and sisters: Loucille Miller, Phyllis Benard, and Jane Anderson.
 
          In keeping with Dick's wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.
