Rita Sharon, age 89, died on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee, Michigan. Born Rita Dubey on November 8, 1926 to Alex and Pearl (LeBeau) Dubey in Nadeau, Michigan. She graduated from Menominee High School in 1943 and then took miscellaneous courses from the University of Wisconsin and later from Bay De Noc Community College in Escanaba.
Rita was employed in many places including Lloyd Co, Lauerman Bros, Steffke Freight, Northern Hulu and UMAW in the Menominee area. In Milwaukee, she was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Telco Credit Union and Golla Temporary Services and also had her own sewing business in Milwaukee.
Rita married Lester Sharon on April 24, 1954 at St. Williams Church in Menominee. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1987. Rita was a member of St. Anthony of Padua church in Wells, Michigan where she belonged to the Guild and served as secretary, treasurer and President. She also served on the Parish council for six years where she served as President from 2001-2004 and secretary for two years after. She was a long term volunteer of OSF Hospice in Escanaba and St. Vincent DePaul in Gladstone. She sang in church choirs for 58 years. Rita enjoyed bowling and golf, and held offices in both. She enjoyed playing bridge but especially enjoyed being with her granddaughters.
She is survived by two sons: Gregory Sharon of Negaunee, Michigan and Peter Sharon of Boston, Massachusetts, granddaughters: Nicole, Christine and Hannah Sharon of Gladstone, sisters: Alberta Semke of Salem, Oregon and Harriet Barley of Menominee, Michigan, brothers: Eugene (Janet) Dubey, Dennis Dubey and sister-in-law Donna Dubey of Menominee; brother-in-law Richard Semke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband Lester, parents Alex & Pearl Dubey, and an infant sister Dorothy.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 17, 2016 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua in Wells with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. Burial will follow Mass in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery. A luncheon will be in the church parish hall.
