Ronald "Ron" D. LaBelle Sr.
Date of Death: January, 01 2016

Ronald "Ron" D. LaBelle Sr., 76 of Wilson, MI passed away unexpectedly on the evening of January 1, 2016. Born on February 7, 1939 he was raised in Wilson and graduated from the Harris High School in 1957.  Ron served in the National Guard from 1957-1964.  He married Joanne Kirschner on August 5, 1961.  They started their life together living in Chicago, IL until 1971 and then in Schaumburg, IL until 1978.  While living in Illinois Ron was a truck driver for Certified Grocers.  In 1978 he and Joanne and their family returned to the Upper Peninsula where they owned and operated LaBelle’s Inn of Spalding, MI and in 1984 also the Candlelight Motel in Powers Mi.

Ron’s greatest joy was his family and many friends. He always had time to talk to anyone and was noted for his willingness to always lend a helping hand. Throughout the years some of Ron’s hobbies included skiing and snowmobiling and he loved watching NASCAR and Packer Football.  Ron loved to travel.  He took trips abroad to Germany and France and fishing trips to Canada and was even talked into a cruise once!  But what Ron was most known for was his love of traveling all over the United States including Alaska and Canada on his motorcycle.  August of 2015 Ron and his brother Ed marked their 32nd consecutive trip out west to the Sturgis bike rally—never trailering it!

Ron is survived by his wife: Joanne, daughter: Kerry LaBelle, son: Ron LaBelle Jr., grandsons: Mitchell Folcik, Nicholas Folcik (Ann Marie), Jacob Folcik, Bryce LaBelle, Ron LaBelle III, Cayden LaBelle and granddaughter: Mya LaBelle. He is also survived by his brothers: William LaBelle, Edward LaBelle, Gerald (Lenore) LaBelle, Larry LaBelle, sisters-in-law: Linda Lynch, Carlyn (Jim) Lynch, brothers-in-law: Bill Kleikamp, Ken (Pam) Kirschner, Joe (Teri) Kirschner, good friend: Pat Kleikamp and many nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Martha and Dona LaBelle, his parents-in-law: Ann and Joseph Kirschner, sister-in-law: Marilyn Kleikamp and brothers-in-law: Keith Kirschner and Peter Lynch.

friends may call from 12:00 (noon) to 3:30 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday January 6, 2016 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding with Tony Revord American Legion Post #244 rites at 3:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding with Fr. Michael Vichich officiating. A luncheon will follow Mass at LaBelle's Inn. Burial will take place in the Bark River Cemetery in the spring.
