          Roy A. Henderson Sr., 94, Escanaba, passed away on Tuesday July 11, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba with family by his side. He was born on February 28, 1923 in Bark River, MI, the son of the late Carl and Agnes (Erickson) Henderson. On February 15, 1947 he married the former Mary Ann Boucher at St. Joseph's Parish in Escanaba.
 
          Roy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, serving during WWII, and was also proud to have flown on the first U.P. Honor Flight. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed being on his CB radio with his call sign of "5 R's". Together he and his wife also enjoyed spending winters in Florida.
 
          He is survived by his wife of 70 years, three sons: Rick (Sherry) Henderson, Ron (Luann) Henderson and Bob (Anne Kelly) Henderson, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law: Sandy Henderson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
 
          Roy was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Roy Henderson Jr., three brothers and one sister.
 
          Friends may call from 12:00 (noon) to 1:30 p.m. on Friday July 14, 2017 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba with Delta County Veterans Council rites at 1:15 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Roy Henderson Sr. will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Fr. Eric Olson officiating. Burial will follow services in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
