Roy J. Nadon
Date of Death: May, 31 2011

Roy J. Nadon
, 94, Flat Rock, passed away on Tuesday May 31, 2011 at his home in Escanaba. He was born on January 6, 1917 to the late Patrick and Mary (Toupin) Nadon in Escanaba. On October 12, 1940 he married the late and former Ann Roberts.

Roy earned his school letter playing baseball at Cooley High School in Detroit, even despite losing his arm in an accident at the age of six. Later he and his wife moved to Escanaba where they started a window frame business called Delta Frame Co. in Flat Rock. Roy and Ann worked side by side and together made their business successful. He was very active in the Flat Rock community and enjoyed coaching and sponsoring baseball teams for 10 to 12 year olds. Baseball was his favorite sport and he was one of the biggest Detroit Tigers fans. Roy was an avid deer hunter until he was in his late 80's and had quite a few stories to tell. He was also an active member of the Holy Family Church in Flat Rock where he belonged to the men's club and ushered during Masses. He found great enjoyment in helping children through the St. Jude's Foundation.

Roy's family and friends were very important to him and he will be remembered for his quick wit, "that smile", his strength and determination and how he lived life to its fullest.

He is survived by one sister: Eileen Menard of Detroit, one brother: Norman (Pat) Nadon of Albuquerque, NM, a great friend of many years: Carl "Buzz" Sylvester as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother: Patrick and one sister: Theresa.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday June 3, 2011 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday June 4, 2011 at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock with Fr. Jose Maramattam and Fr. Frank Lenz officiating. A luncheon will follow Mass in the Fr. Matt Hall at church. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.

In lieu of other expression of sympathy, a memorial for some of his favorite different charities will be established and donations may be directed to his family in Roy Nadon's name.
