            Stephen "Steve" James LaBonte Sr., 78, Spalding, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday June 4, 2015 at Dickinson County Hospital in Iron Mountain. He was born on November 2, 1936 in Spalding, MI, the son of the late Napoleon and Aldia (Betters) LaBonte Jr. On July 11, 1959 he married the former Dianna McGuire at St. Joseph Parish in Escanaba.
            Stephen was drafted into the United States Army for three years and then began his family of six children. Steve was employed for 36 years at M&J Electric until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Stephen enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and also enjoyed being at camp, hunting, fishing, and watching his family grow. 
            He is survived by his two sons; Stephen (Michelle) and Ronald LaBonte and his four daughters: Tammy (Rick) LaBonte, Lori (John) Dault, Becky (Tom) Dombrowski and Donna (Joe) Dombrowski, his grandchildren: Brent, Zoe, Eric (Summer), Tye, Bryant (Kaylyn), Breanna Dault, Jacklyn (Tim) Muhlenbeck, Justin (Nicolle), Ethan, Dylan, and Natalie Dombrowski, his great-grandchildren: Kimberly, Alison, Noah, and Micah LaBonte. He is also survived by his siblings: Napoleon (Joanne) Clell and Lem (Ethel) LaBonte. Along with Dar and Mike Hayes, words cannot express our gratitude and thanks for your love and devotion that was given to our father for the past two and a half years. You are truly our families Guardian Angel.
            Steve was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five sisters and one brother.
            Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday June 10, 2015 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding with Tony Revord American Legion Post #244 rites at 6:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. (CST) on Thursday June 11, 2015 at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding with Fr. Michael Vichich officiating. Burial will follow Mass in the Spalding Township Cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the church parish hall.
