Sylvia D. Maule
Date of Death: November, 16 2013

Sylvia D. Maule, 84, Hermansville, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday November 16, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital. She was born January 2, 1929 in Powers, to the late Henry and Della (LaMay) Luft.

Sylvia graduated salutatorian of Powers High School in 1947 and married George Maule on November 2, 1952. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent seamstress, quilter, cook and was an avid reader. Biographies were her favorite, and her love of poetry was evident as she had a poem for every occasion. Sylvia loved children and her home was a haven of love. Everyone looked forward to visits with her where there was always a fresh cup of coffee waiting for you with  a warm smile and conversation.

She is survived by children: George (Barbara) Maule, Michael Maule, Deborah (Mark ) Sablich, Robert (Connie) Maule, Steve (Deborah) Maule, Jeffery (Corrie) Maule,Thomas (Sally) Maule, Kathryn (Edward) Belaire, Gregory (Lori) Maule, Susan Hixson, Douglas (Kim), Keith (Angela) Maule, Charles (Audrey), Daniel (Connie) Maule, thirty-seven grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, brother: Clifford (Sally) Luft and sister: Lorraine Luft.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-eight years, son: Ronald Maule, brothers: Mayadore  Luft, Melvin Luft, Gordon Luft, Elmer Luft, Lawrence Luft and Howard Luft, sisters:  Margaret Luft, Dorothy Eisemheim, Sally Jasper and Mildred Bink.

Her life was a picture of sacrifice and devotion. She was happiest when her family was together and she looked forward to the gatherings during holidays and other special occasions. Everyone looked forward to her sugar cookies at Christmas time and each grandchild went home with some. She never hunted, but hunting season meant the house was filled with daughters, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, laughter and a lot of good food.  She was the reigning, undisputed family champion of Chinese checkers.  She also loved music, especially the great hymns of faith; she cherished the Lord and the Word of God was her treasure.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon) (CST) on Thursday November 21, 2013 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway, MI. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Sylvia D. Maule will be at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday at church with Pastor James Danielson officiating. A luncheon will follow services in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Meyer Township Cemetery.

She will be greatly missed, though we look forward to the day when we will be reunited with her in the presence of Christ.

I Thessalonians 4:13-18
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
