Ulla K. Theoret
Date of Death: February, 23 2018

Ulla (Turunen) Theoret, 55, Burk Falls, Ontario, Canada and formerly of Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 23, 2018.

Ulla was born in Canada on July 4th, 1962, daughter of the late Olavi and Raija Turunen. She attended Finlandia University where she obtained her bachelor's degree in nursing.  She worked at hospitals in Green Bay, WI and Iron Mountain, MI. Ulla loved being a nurse and selflessly caring for others. When her health restricted her from working, she continued caring for her three boys, friends, and family members.

Ulla's loving arms, big heart, and side door were always open to the neighborhood children and pets. She was often found in the kitchen trying new recipes and sharing traditional Finnish cuisine, tending to her beautiful gardens, or luring the neighborhood animals to her house with treats so she could love on them. She also loved going to rummage sales and collecting antiques.

Ulla moved to Canada to care for aging her parents in 2015 and continued to spread her infectious smile to all she met.

Ulla is survived by her sons: Thomas and Hans Theoret, former spouse: Steven Theoret, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Paul, and brother: Peter Turunen.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba. Parish prayers celebrating Ulla and Paul's life will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 4:00 p.m. with Fr. Glenn Theoret officiating. A meal will follow parish prayers at the Knight of Columbus Hall, 1812  9th Avenue North, Escanaba.

Condolences
  • "My wife and I would like to send you our heartfelt condolences for the tragic loss of Ulla and Paul. Much comfort can be drawn from the "our Father" prayer where Jesus taught us to pray for God's will to be done on earth as it is is heaven. Soon senseless acts of violence will be things of the past. Christ promised that there will be a resurrection of our loved ones where we will never have to die again. (John 5:28, 29) "

  • " Regrets on the recent untimely passing of Ulla & Paul Theoret. Our kids were in youth baseball together. Fine people. Rest in peace."
    -Richard & Cheryl Rusch
