William "Bill" H. Bisson
William "Bill" H. Bisson, 89, Escanaba, passed away on Monday November 20, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 24, 1927 in Escanaba, the eldest son of the late Henry and Bernetta (Boucher) Bisson. On July 6, 1949 he married the former Pamela DeMars at St. Joseph's Church in Escanaba.
Bill graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1946. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Army and was a WWII vet. He worked at Mead Paper as a pipe fitter for 34 years retiring in 1990. Bill fondly recalls his time working at Montgomery Ward, prior to Mead Paper, where he met Pam, his future wife. They made their home in Escanaba where they raised their four children. Bill had tremendous love and pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family picnics around the U.P. were a highlight until he and Pam bought their cottage on Lake Louise in 1977. For 40 years they provided a summer vacation destination for family and friends. Though he felt others were more important, Bill finally took his seat on Honor Flight XII to Washington D.C. on May 17, 2017.
He was raised Catholic and is a life-long member of St. Joseph Church (currently St. Joseph & St. Patrick). Catholic education was important to him and so his children attended St. Joseph Grade School and continued to Holy Name High School. His love and dedication to his family will always be remembered. He stood by us all when we needed his strength and support.
Bill is survived by four children: Michael Bisson, Sue Scheeneman, Gary (Lynn) Bisson and Aimee Bisson, one brother: John Bisson, two sisters: Carol Winling and Mary (Ed) Lambert, seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Jason, Kimberly, Benjamin, Brian, James and Andrew, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 64 years.
Friends may call from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday November 28, 2017 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba with Delta County Veterans Council Rites at 3:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Parish with Fr.
