Arthur "Art" J. Beauvais Sr.

             Arthur "Art" J. Beauvais Sr., 94, Escanaba, passed away on Saturday June 13, 2015 at the V.A. Hospital in Iron Mountain, MI. He was born on September 26, 1920 in Houghton, MI, the son of the late Arthur and Augusta (Nordquist) Beauvais. On August 5, 1942 he married the former Effie Valiquette at St. Patrick's Parish.
 
            Art proudly served his country in the U. S. Army from November 1942 to October 1945. He served in the 9th Armored Engineers Battalion, Battles of Ardennes-Rhineland and Central Europe, receiving Military Citations: European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with three Bronze battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge with Oak Leaf Cluster and two overseas Service Bars.  Art worked on the Escanaba ore docks and then at the paper mill until his retirement in 1982 as a supervisor after 36 years. He was a member of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Parish and the Mead Management Club. He enjoyed reading and watching sports, but really loved the outdoor life, especially hunting fishing and spending time at his family's camp with his children and all his grandchildren.
 
            Art is survived by seven children: Sharon Beauvais, Donald Beauvais, Allen (Laura) Beauvais, Art (Carolyn) Beauvais Jr., Susan (Tom) Sauve, Mary Beauvais and Ken (Melody) Beauvais, two brothers: Alfred (Joann) and Dennis (Mary) Beauvais, three sisters: Loretta (Terry) Hasty, Betty Homernik and Darlene (James) Gilliand, many grand, great-grand and great great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
 
            He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2012, two children: Christine Peters and William Beauvais, a grandson: Ricky Beauvais, three brothers: Wilfred, Eugene and Edward Beauvais and one sister: Ethel Wester.
 
            Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday June 17, 2015 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba with the Delta County Veterans Council rites at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Parish with Fr. Eric Olson officiating. A luncheon will follow Mass in the church parish hall. Art will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Grandpa excepted me as his own grand child, he an grandma showed me love and understanding. They loved my children, Clint, Koty and Tristin.
