Beatrice "Bea" Wheeler
, 90, Powers, passed away on Sunday July 24, 2011 at her home in Powers surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born on September 26, 1920 to the late Julius and Mary (Guay) Borden in Wilson, MI. On December 1, 1945 she married the late Bill Wheeler at St. Francis Xavier Church in Spalding.

When Bea was in her early twenties, she moved to Milwaukee, WI and worked for Evinrude Motors until the end of WWII. At the end of the war, her and Bill where married and raised their family in the Powers area. Bea took a lot of pride in her work as a cook at The Big R Cafe where she retired from after many years. She also loved cooking for her neighbors when they needed help at times. Bea enjoyed traveling with her husband during their retirement and crocheting and was also a very active member at St. John Neumann Church and the St. Anne's Society.

She is survived by her three daughters: Darlene (Jerry) Vandermissen, Mary Width and Patricia (Roger Skufca) Wheeler, six grandchildren: Greg, Rebecca, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Jennifer and Jessica, fifteen great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson: Jerry Vandermissen, three brothers: Ervie, Roy and Vern Borden and two sisters: Lena Dubord and Grace Draze.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday July 27, 2011 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding with the St. Anne's Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and Parish Prayers at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of her soul will be held at 10:00 a.m. (CST) on Thursday July 28, 2011 at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding with Rev. Mark McQesten officiating and Rev. Corey Litzner concelebrating. Bea will then be laid to rest in the Spalding Township Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church Parish Hall.
