            June Marie Castaneda, 84, Escanaba, passed away on Tuesday October 28, 2014 at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. She was born on June 17, 1930 in Daggett, MI, the daughter of the late John and Mary (DeGrave) Sandahl.
 
            June was a longstanding member of the Secular Franciscans', many prayer groups and bible studies throughout her life. She attended many silent retreats at Marygrove, counseled many breast cancer survivors, was a Eucharistic Minister and made perpetual adorations at St. Frances Hospital. June enjoyed being a volunteer at the Bishop Noa Home, Hospice and Eldercare following her retirement as a nurse at St. Frances Hospital in 1992. She also organized monthly lunches for the retired nurses of St. Frances Hospital.
 
            She loved playing cards, reading, stamp card making, listening to music, especially Daniel O'Donnell and dog sitting for Chewy. June was a sweet kind loving person to all who always put others needs before her own. Being a single parent to six children was her 1st priority and most important job, but also loved her grandchildren very much.
           
            June is survived by six children: Cyndi (Kim) Oberlin, Patricia (William) Boda, Thomas (Jeanne) Castaneda, Daniel (Arlene) Castaneda, , Mary (Glen) Gregory and Joan (Alan) Cayer, two brothers: John (Carol) Sandahl and Jim (Donna) Sandahl, two sisters: Lois Biedrzycki and Patricia (Joe) Duca, fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
 
            She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son: Timothy, two grandsons: Kenny and Bret, one sister: Jean Burge, one brother: Pete Sandahl and two nephews.
 
            Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 5, 2014 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba with Secular Franciscan wake service at 6:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday November 6, 2014 at St. Anne's Parish with Fr. Francis DeGroot officiating. A luncheon will follow Mass at St. Patrick & St. Joseph Parish hall. Burial will take place in the Stephenson Township Cemetery.
 
            The Allo Coolman Funeral Homes are assisting the Castaneda family.
