          Karen E. Paulin, 64, Rock, MI, passed away unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack on Sunday September 7, 2014 at her home in Rock. She was born on August 24, 1950 in Indiana, the daughter of the late Robert Miller and Zona Winkler. On June 24, 1989 she married James Paulin at St. Joseph's Parish in Escanaba.
 
          Karen is survived by her husband, a daughter: Laura VanMarter, four step-children: Kenneth Paulin, Brian Paulin, Marcie (Tom) Berthume and Jamie (Tom) Tomac, one brother: Allen (Charlotte) Miller, four sisters: Mary, Shirley, Brenda and Sherry, six grandchildren: Corey, Katia, Andrea, Brianna, Trevor and Aaron, as well as many nieces and nephews.
 
          She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson: Brandon and two sisters: Rhonda and Roberta.
 
          There will be a gathering to remember and celebrate the life of Karen Paulin on Monday September 15, 2014 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Rock Senior Center. Inurnment will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
 
          Karen will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
 
          In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, her family requests that donations be made to the Rock Senior Center.
 
          The Allo Coolman Funeral Home of Escanaba is assisting the Paulin family.
