Laurel Elizabeth Hay
Date of Death: December, 23 2021

Laurel Elizabeth Hay, 80, Escanaba, passed away on Thursday December 23, 2021 at Christian Park Health Care Center. Laurel was born on July 17, 1941 in Harvey, Michigan to Edward and Grace (Scott) Anderson.

She graduated from Escanaba Public Schools in 1959. After graduation, she was employed at the Fair Store until she became a wife and homemaker. She was a life-long resident of Escanaba, and a member of St. Joseph’s Church. Laurel was proud to be a Polio survivor; and even though she had many physical obstacles, she provided a loving home for her two children. Laurel saw the everyday beauty in life. She enjoyed getting to know people and really listened to what they had to say. Laurel loved spending time with her family and loved them all fiercely. Laurel also adored animals and adopted many cats and dogs throughout the years. She also enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels in the feeders outside of her window. Laurel had such a big, beautiful smile and a wonderful sense of humor. Her hugs had a way of always making you feel better. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Laurel is survived by her son, Mark (Rebecca) Hay; her daughter, Amy Hay; and one Granddaughter; Emilee Grace Hay.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Anderson.

A private family funeral will take place at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. Laurel will be laid to rest in the spring at the Holy Cross Cemetery.
