          Shirley R. Geurts, 93, Escanaba, passed away early Monday morning, April 27, 2020 at Sunny View Adult Foster Care in Gladstone. She was born on January 2, 1927 in De Pere, WI, daughter of the late Peter and Martha (Fuller) Heuvelmans. On November 5, 1949 she married Roman Geurts at St. Joseph's Catholic church in De Pere and together raised four sons and a daughter. They lived in Newberry, MI for 8 years and then moved to Escanaba where they lived the rest of their lives.
 
          Shirley graduated from De Pere High School and then was employed as a switchboard operator. She enjoyed spending time with the women of her sorority, bowling, making ceramics and traveling. Shirley also had a great love for plants and flowers and produced beautiful gardens.
 
          She is survived by four sons: Daniel (Holly) of Gladstone, MI, Michael (Sharon) of Kiel, WI, Steven (Samantha) of Sturgeon Bay, WI and Patrick (Kimberly) of Lester Prairie, MN. Family was important to her and she enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews, and a special friend: Mary Stevens.
 
          Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter: Kathy, sisters: Lorraine, Arlene and brothers: Rolland, Vernon and Richard.
 
          A private burial service will take place at Gardens of Rest Cemetery with Fr. Francis DeGroot leading with committal prayers.
 
          Her family would like to thank Sunny View for their excellent care of Shirley and the kind nurses at UPHS Hospice for their help.
 
          The Allo Coolman Funeral Homes are assisting the Geurts family.
